Overall, this season with the Twins, Valencia hit .198 with two home runs and 17 RBI over 126 at-bats. He DID, however, lead the Twins in RBI in 2011 with 72 as he hit 15 home runs along with a .246 batting average, but his defensive struggles angered the team’s coaches and he always seemed to be in Ron Gardenhire’s doghouse.... oops.
As for Pineda, he hit .421 with 22 RBI and 14 stolen bases over 133 at-bats for Boston’s rookie league team. Prior to the 2011 season, the Sox signed him out of the Dominican Republic.
And at just 21 years old, he may have some youthful potential, which can only mean good things for out Minnesota Twins.
