Kubel and Blackburn Beat Yanks!!

Put your broom away Yankee fans! The Twins avoided the sweep last night with a huge home runs by Jason Kubel and a great pitching performance by Nick Blackburn. Jason Kubel hit two home runs that drove in 5 runs. Blackburn pitched 7 innings and only gave up 2 runs off of nine hits. Blackburn had a superb month of May in which he went 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA. It's nice to know Blackie is back on track. Most importantly, Blackburn has ended two three game losing streaks this month and is 4-0 following a loss. The Twins need a good Blackburn if they want to have a chance at the World Series!! Go Twinsss

A New First

The Twins experience their first suspended game on Tuesday when the umpires suspended Tuesday's game against the Yankees. The score was 0-0 and they suspended the game heading into the 6th inning. The game will continue today at 4 30 and it will be followed by a game at 6 10 against the Yankees. Fans who had tickets to last nights game will not be admitted to watch the rest of the game today since, according to Major League Baseball rules, it was called an official game. The Twins plan to use Brian Duensing to begin the 6th inning today while the Yankees have not announced their plans.

Hardy Says He's Ready

Hardy took two rounds of batting practice on Sunday and says that he should be ready to go for the beginning of the Twins series against the New York Yankees. Hardy has been on the 15 day Disabled List since May 4h. Hardy got injured when he slid head first while completing a triple on May 4th. Hardy was hoping to be ready for the series against the Brewers but he couldn't even hit off a tee before the weekend. Hardy will wear a protective brace over his wrist for the next couple of weeks.

Twins Swept at Fenway

Although it was only a two game series, the Twins were swept at Fenway Park by the Boston Red Sox. They lost 3-2 on Wednesday, but had a chance with two man on with two outs in the top of the 9th but Jim Thome grounded out. Yesterday, Francisco Liriano didn't really give the Twins a great chance to win the game as he let up five runs in 4 2/3 innings pitched. I have a prediction for this weekend. The Twins are not only going to end this three game slide, but they will sweep the Milwaukee Brewers and hopefully gain a little separation from the Detroit Tigers, who are playing great baseball at the moment and are a viable threat to the Twin's playoff aspirations. Buy tickets to Brewers Twins today!

Twins get Smashed by Blue Jays in Game 2 of Series

The Twins got crushed yesterday by the Toronto Blue Jays. Shaun Marcum threw a gem against the Twins by allowing only five hits that led to one run. In the game, the Twins only got six hits that translated into two runs. Carl Pavano got shelled as he let up 10 hits, 6 runs in only four innings of work. Ron Mahay also got shelled in his 1 2/3 innings of work where he allowed 3 runs. The Twins split the series with the Blue Jays and are now 2-3 on this 7 game road trip. The Twins will look to get to make this a winning road trip by sweeping the Boston Red Sox these next two days. The pitching match up for todays game is Scott Baker for the Twins vs. Clay Bucholtz of the Red Sox. Expect the Twins to at least split the series with the Sox.

Pat Neshek Player Profile

Who is that one Twin who throws really funny? That's Pat Neshek! Pat Neshek grew up in Madison Wisconsin. Neshek began his career for the Twins in 2006. In 2007, MLB had no idea what it had coming as Neshek took the league by storm. He was so good that he almost made the All Star Team. Neshek finished the seasonwith a 7-2 win-loss record appearing in 74 games for a total of 70.1 innings pitched and a 2.94 ERA. Neshek ended his season September 20th of that season due to elbow tenderness. Neshek tore is UCL three innings into the 2008 season. On November 11, 2008, it was announced that he would undergo ligament replacement surgery, more commonly known as Tommy John surgery, and miss the 2009 season. Neshek is back for the 2010 season, but he has not been that effective or used very much. It's said that it takes two years for players to regain their form after TJ surgery so look for him to be spectacular in 2011. GO PAT!!!

Twins-Yankees Series Preview

Today, the Minnesota Twins begin their series against the New York Yankees in the Big Apple. The Twins have done terribly against the Yankee's under Ron Gardenhire, especially at Yankee Stadium. Last season, the Twins were 0-10 against the Yankees, including a sweep in the first round of of the playoffs. Under Gardenhire, the Twins are 5-27 at Yankee stadium. This year might be a little different. The Twins have one of the best records in all of baseball. In fact, they have an identical record to the Yankees as they both sit at 22-12. Naturally, the Twins are treating this as just another series, but it will be interesting to see how the Twins fair against a team they could potentially have to play in the playoffs.

Here are the pitching matchups.

Game 1: Liriano vs. Burnett

Game 2: Baker vs. Pettite

Game 3: Blackburn vs. Mitre

Mauer is back!!

After missing 8 games for the Twins, Joe Mauer is finally back! He missed those eight games because of a bruised heel. Mauer pinched hit in Saturday night's win over the Orioles and he was the designated hitter for the Twins on Mother's day which probably made mamma Mauer (my soon to be mother in law... lol i wish) so proud. On monday he caught for the first time again and went 3-4 with a double! He's so great! Love you Joe and can't wait to get married!!!!!

9 game Twins Homestand could be better than christmas

I am Soooo pumped that the Minnesota Twins are on a 9 Game Homestand. There are still such great Twins Tickets out there for all of the games that I might decide to blow off work and go, not so sure how my boss would feel about that but I would LOVE it. Minnesota Twins Home Games are now my favorite thing, first of all I am in love with Target Field, the seats are better, the food is amazing and baseball should be outside period.

If you are reading this, you probably aren't working or studying or doing what ever productive thing you should be doing so I'm going to go ahead and give you permission to just blow off everything responsible you are supposed to do today or tomorrow and go get yourself to Target Field to take in a Twins Game.

GO TWINKIES!

Time to get caught up on Blogging, Lets start with the Minnesota Twins Detroit Tigers Series \

Twins Celebrating a great play
I have been a little MIA from my Twins blogging for the past few weeks, but I'm back in action. Lets start with the Minnesota Twins Detroit Tigers Series. Today is the last game in the 3 day series, and I am one Twins Fan who would LOVE LOVE love to see the Minnesota Twins take their first sweep of the season.

The first two games of the series were both wins for the Twins, with Monday's game ending in a huge blow out 10-4 Twins. Tuesday's game was a little closer but the Twins still pulled out 4-3 Win. Today's weather will add an extra challenge for the Minnesota Twins but I'm feeling it... My boys are going to hit it out of the park (literally).
